Last month I wrote about perhaps my favorite living artist, Bato Dugarzhapov.
Several readers emailed in asking for a link to see his work. I didn’t share links as his work is scattered all over the place. But I have since come across an ebook featuring many of his paintings. You can see it below. (It’s a bit clunky and slow on mobile.)
I also came across an ebook published by the artist himself: Bato Dhugarspoz: A Few Words About Painting (see below). I recommend you read this from start to finish. It’s a short read but I found it to be quite profound. It provides insight into his way of painting and his overall philosophy. If you’re struggling with painting too tight and rigid, this guy is worth following. He advocates for painting as an emotional experience rather than purely analytical. It’s interesting stuff.
Also, there’s just one more day to join our flagship Color Masterclass. We only open this twice a year, and this will be the last cohort of 2026.
Happy painting!
