My Elora painting is nearly done. It’s at that stage where I just leave it on the easel and look at it from time to time. Usually, the painting will tell me what more is required, if anything.
I walked past the painting today and felt inspiration strike. The problem was, my 1-year-old daughter Arabella is at the age where I cannot put her down.
But when inspiration strikes, you must act!
So here I was, baby in one arm, mixing colors and making strokes with the other, whilst fending off her assisting hands.
Not an ideal way to work, especially at this late stage of the painting process. But I got what I wanted done and all is well.
I thought this was a good image of things not lining up perfectly and just needing to do what you can when inspiration strikes.
Those inspired moments don’t wait for you. They come and go. You can write down notes for later, but the ideas won’t feel as fresh or spontaneous.
I’ll have an update on the Elora painting for you tomorrow or the day after.
Happy painting!
