Sunsets and Sunrises Workshop: Join the Waitlist

(Scroll down for details.)

The other week, Chontele, Elora, and I stayed amongst the rainforest at a place named O’Reilly’s in Queensland, Australia. We were lucky to have a view of the sunset from our balcony. For the two nights we were there, I painted studies and took reference photos of the sun setting behind silhouetted mountains and trees. The fiery reds and oranges and the softer pastel colors were quite a sight!

These studies and the photos will form the basis of my next sunset painting. I’ll be doing a full online workshop on how this painting comes together and the particulars of sunrise and sunset painting. I just wanted to reach out and see if you would be interested.

Here’s what I have in mind:

  • I’ll walk you through the entire painting process, from capturing the initial spark and idea all the way through to signing the finished painting and reflecting on my efforts.
  • In this workshop format, I’ll be able to give you a more in-depth look into what I’m doing, including things like how much paint I put on my brush and the reasoning behind my color decisions. I’ll also be able to cover some of the more nuanced aspects of painting that I don’t usually get a chance to cover in my free posts, videos, and emails.
  • You’ll learn the relevant theory that applies to painting sunsets and sunrises. This will be a great way to reinforce your understanding of the fundamentals.
  • You’ll get additional resources to help you with painting sunsets and sunrises, including reference photos and master examples.
  • The format will be a mix of text, images, video, and downloadable resources.
  • I’ll be using oils, but all color mediums are welcome. I’ll provide some information at the start of the workshop about how to approach different mediums.
  • It won’t take up much of your time. It will be fairly condensed as I don’t want to overwhelm you. If you have been reading my posts or taken any of my courses, then this workshop will be a good way to see some of that information in action.
  • You’ll have a chance to paint your own sunset or sunrise painting based on what you learn in the workshop. We will have a student gallery at the end where you can showcase your work and see how other students went.
  • Cost of enrollment is still to be determined, but we will try and keep it as affordable as possible.
