17 Stunning Paintings by Impressionist, Daniel Garber

Daniel Garber was a talented American impressionist artist who was known for his large paintings of the New Hope area in Pennsylvania. He was also a teacher at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.

Whilst not as well known compared to the likes of the other leading impressionists such as Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh, his talent is clearly apparent in his stunning paintings.

His paintings have a beautiful realism to them but do not appear tight or refined. Something which is very difficult to achieve.

His selection of colors is absolutely stunning, with a very high-key value range often used to produce an almost glimmering effect.

I also love the way he utilized blue tones in the shadows to complement the lighter areas (like in “Autumn In Pennsylvania”, “Old Willows-Springtime”, “Evening – Tuscany” and “Down The River November”).

I will leave you to appreciate his paintings below and with this quote:

“My work is different, perhaps, from that of the general landscape painter in that I have a mass of detail in the mass. After all, one’s job is to get everything in and yet keep it all as a whole, like an orchestra – everything working in harmony to produce one feeling or emotion.”

  1. Thank you ,Dan. I am currently collecting downloaded images of paintings of American impressionist painters and Mr. Garber caught my attention just. . . . The colors are finely complemented into many small details of shimmering colors. Looking forward to learn from them.
